The Ausserschwyzer Fluggemeinschaft Wangen operates Flugplatz Wangen-Lachen, a unique airfield with a short approx. 500m paved runway located by the upper Lake Zurich and surrounded by the Alps. The favorable pre-alpine climate often provides good flying conditions even when the Swiss plateau is foggy, making it ideal for alpine and scenic flights. Their flight school offers comprehensive pilot training, from private pilot licenses (PPL, LAPL) to advanced qualifications including instrument ratings and night VFR. The fleet includes popular single-engine piston aircraft such as Cessna 152, various Piper PA-28 models, Mooney M20J, and Bristell B23-912iS. Training covers theory, instrument flying, mountain and glacier operations, and commercial pilot licenses. The club has an online aircraft reservation system and offers scenic flights, catering to students seeking varied flight experiences in picturesque alpine surroundings. The club does not sell equipment or provide dedicated radio communication training.
