The Ausserschwyzer Fluggemeinschaft Wangen operates at Flugplatz Wangen-Lachen, nestled by the upper Zurich Lake and surrounded by the Alps, featuring a short 500-meter paved runway. It benefits from a favorable pre-alpine climate that offers good flying conditions often even when lowlands are foggy. The flight school offers comprehensive pilot training from Light Aircraft Pilot License (LAPL) and Private Pilot License (PPL) to advanced courses including Commercial Pilot License (CPL), instrument ratings (Competency-Based IR and Enroute IR), night flying, mountain and glacier training, and flight instructor certifications. Theory lessons and radio communication (voice) training are available, including a distance learning option. The fleet includes well-maintained aircraft such as Cessna 152, Piper PA-28 variants, Mooney M20J with retractable landing gear, and Bristell B23-912iS. The facility is ideal for student pilots seeking alpine and varied flying experiences. The club operates as a flying club with self-service aircraft reservations but does not offer separate radio communication training or sell equipment.
