Alpine Segelflugschule Schänis AG at Schänis airfield is the Swiss competence center for comprehensive glider training from beginner to alpine aerobatics. The flight school offers flexible basic and self-launching glider training as well as powered flight training with the world's first certified electric aircraft, the Pipistrel Velis Electro.
The fleet includes modern gliders, self-launchers, motor gliders and electric aircraft. Courses run all year round with experienced flight instructors. Additional offerings include further training for aspiring flight instructors, passenger flight privileges, aerobatics, theoretical training and simulator training.
The airfield has a 520 m hard-surface runway and extensive infrastructure. It is home to demanding glider groups, aerobatic clubs, vintage aircraft clubs and electric hang gliders.
