The Aero-Club Gotha e.V. is a non-profit flying club based at the historic airfield of Gotha-Ost, Germany. It operates its own flight school specializing in ultralight aircraft flight training. The club offers comprehensive theoretical and practical training, with theory topics including air law, navigation, meteorology, technology, flight radio communication, human performance, and pyrotechnics for aircraft rescue systems. Practical training requires a minimum of 30 flight hours, including at least 5 solo hours, instructor-supported cross-country flights, and solo cross-country experience. The training culminates in acquiring the Sport Pilot Licence (SPL) for ultralight aircraft. The fleet currently includes Aeroprakt A22LS and A32 ultralight aircraft, and formerly Comco Ikarus C-42 models. The club maintains a traditional flying culture with experienced volunteer instructors and provides aircraft for members without requiring private ownership. Additional offerings include trial flights, flight vouchers, and "Pilot for a Day" experiences. Costs typically range from 3,000 to 4,000 euros, with training sessions mainly held on weekends or by appointment. Located at EDEG (Gotha) airfield, the Aero-Club Gotha e.V. actively promotes flying as a fascinating hobby and community activity.
