Aero-Club Gotha e.V. is a non-profit flying club located at the historic Gotha-Ost airfield in Germany, offering ultralight aircraft flight training and recreational flying opportunities. The club operates its own flight school with comprehensive theoretical and practical instruction covering air law, navigation, meteorology, technology, radio communication, human performance, and pyrotechnics for UL rescue systems.
Training includes a minimum of 30 flight hours with at least 5 solo hours, including cross-country navigation flights, leading to the acquisition of the Sport Pilot Licence (SPL) for ultralight flying. The fleet consists of Aeroprakt A-22LS and A-32 aircraft models, with former operation of Comco Ikarus C-42 planes. Members can use club aircraft for training and flying without owning a plane. Flight training is mostly conducted on weekends with experienced volunteer instructors.
Additional offerings include trial flights, flight vouchers, and "Pilot for a Day" experiences. The Aero-Club Gotha fosters a traditional and supportive flying culture, encouraging aviation as an engaging hobby.
