Vorarlberger Alpenflieger Club (VAFC)

The Vorarlberger Alpenflieger Club (VAFC) is a certified flight school and aviation club based at Hohenems-Dornbirn Airport, Austria (ICAO: LOIH). The club operates a fleet of modern single-engine aircraft including Tecnam P 2002 JF, Cessna 172 SP variants with Garmin G1000, Tecnam P2010, and Bristell B23 models. It offers comprehensive pilot training programs such as the Private Pilot License (PPL-A) under EASA Part-FCL, including theoretical and practical instruction, night VFR, alpine and international familiarization, license renewal, and trial flights. The flight school is officially recognized by Austro Control GmbH as an Approved Training Organization (ATO No. AT.ATO.163).

The VAFC was founded in 2014 and has over 90 members, functioning as a community-focused aviation club that emphasizes safety and high-quality training. Maintenance of aircraft is performed regularly by licensed maintenance organizations.

The club is well-suited for aviation enthusiasts interested in mountain flying and cross-border routes in the alpine tri-border area of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. It also provides ICAO language proficiency testing and radiotelephony licenses (BZF Classes I & II), although it does not offer its own radio communication training. The VAFC hosts regular social and refresher events, fostering a strong pilot community spirit.
