The Hermann Köhl Aviation Group e.V. at Hettstadt airfield near Würzburg, Germany, is a long-established and well-known flying club and powered flight school, founded in 1960. Named after pioneer aviator Hermann Köhl, it offers training for Private Pilot Licences (PPL) and Light Aircraft Pilot Licences (LAPL), mainly for single-engine piston aircraft. The training includes both theoretical and practical flight instruction with experienced flight instructors, as well as night flying (NVFR) and radio telephony certificates BZF I, BZF II and AZF.
The club owns a fleet of three four-seat Cessna 172s and one two-seat Cessna 152, all of which meet strict noise protection requirements. The grass runway is 550 meters long and is normally open on weekends and public holidays in good weather.
The flight school has been an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) since 2015 and thus ensures compliance with EU regulations and high training standards. The club offers introductory flights and welcomes new members interested in private flying, and promotes a friendly and knowledgeable community.
Club members fly at cost price, and the site includes a comfortable clubhouse that is open on weekends for pilots and guests.
